The backgrounds for each area will be 640 by 480 pixels and should loop vertically and horizontally

The terrain tiles will be 40 by 40 pixels. Some will be slopes

The player will be 40 pixels high and no more than 40 pixels wide (should be less)

The player will be able to jump on some projectiles

Player can chain jump on projectiles or enemies to get higher and higher

NOTE: none of these names are final, I just haven’t thought of them yet.***Locations:

        • In All Areas: there are a lot of signposts that say various things
        • Platformertown: This is an area where the player will spend his downtime when not fighting monsters. The decor should be overly cheery, almost too much so.
          • Hub Area: This is where all buildings in Platformertown connect to. You can access Platformerstreet and later on the pit from here. Some minor NPCs are here.
          • Your House: This room has a bed to restore hitpoints, and a save station. There are no NPCs
          • The Workplace: This is where Bossman resides to assign tasks to the player. This building should be fairly tall. Some minor NPCs are here.
          • The Shop: This is where the player buys stuff from Shopgirl. No other NPCs are here.
          • The Gym: This is where the player comes to practice fighting with Fightguy. Some minor NPCs are here (maybe).
        • Platformerstreet: This is a long area with some weak enemies. Though it is a road it still has pits and floating platforms to make things interesting. Many of the early tasks will be completed here. There are rows of houses, some of which can be entered. One house leads to the fiery underground, and another is Helperguy’s house. A manhole leads to the sewer. At the end of the street is the castle.
        • The Sewer: This is the first dungeon the player will go to. The walls and floors should be greenish and there should be a multitude of pipes. In some areas, there is a pool of brown liquid that will cause players to take gradual damage.
        • The Fiery Underground: This is the second dungeon. The walls should be very rocky and have coils of magma in them. On the floor will be lava that causes instant and severe damage when stepped on. Inside this dungeon there are waterballs that will turn magma enemies into stone.
        • The Pit: This is the third dungeon: This dungeon will be very dark. The player will not be able to see most of the time. When he is carrying a light orb, he will be able to see that the walls have carved indentations.
        • The Castle: This is the forth and final dungeon. The walls should look heavily fortified. But inside is not entirely medieval. There should be cloning tanks with townspeople inside (maybe some can be enemy spawners?). Inside the castle is the entrance to the dimension where Shopgirl gets her hellbeasts
          • Hellish Dimension: Wasteland with weird stuff. (should not be a big area, it just leads up to a boss)

          • Runs the shop
          • Raises evil Monsters from another dimension in her spare time.

          • Not one of the town members
          • Came to the town before the townspeople became evil

      • Enemies
        • Training dummy
          • Location: the gym
          • Basically a smiley face ball on a spring with wheels
          • Exists only for training purposes
        • Fire spirit
          • Location: The Fiery Underground
          • Floating ball of fiery light
          • Sets you on fire if you get close (2 damage maybe?)
          • Can be defeated using a water ball
        • Secret Agent
          • Location: Castle?
      • Bosses
        • Giant Crocodile
          • Location: The Sewer
          • Attacks by biting you and trying to ram into you
          • When he rams into you jump over him and he will hit his head against the wall causing rocks to fall.
          • Pick up a rock and throw one into his mouth when he is getting ready to bite.
          • When he has a rock in his mouth jump on the mouth to do damage.
        • Big Brutish Monster
          • Location: The Workplace
          • A big hulking monster wielding Bossman’s desk (with Bossman still in it) as a club
          • Has some attacks which I haven’t figured out yet
          • Attempts to smash you with desk
          • Player can jump on desk, and when he raises it, jump on his head.
        • Magma Monster
          • Location: The Fiery Underground
          • A big Magma blob
          • He is in a room with some platforms floating on the lava, and a water ball generator on the far side opposite him
          • First you must get a water ball and throw it at him, he will partially turn to stone and go to the far side of the room.
          • When you do this the platforms will rise up
          • The monster will throw rocky projectiles in this form.
          • The player must jump on the rocky spot on his “head”. When he does this on of the platforms will be destroyed so he will have to jump on the projectiles to reach him next time. OR the platforms will not rise up as high. The player will still have to jump on projectiles
        • Fightguy
          • Location: Hub Area
          • Has many punch and kick attacks
          • Jump on him when he is not punching
          • Has A LOT of hp (but should go down fast)
          • When he is halfway defeated, he starts doing ranged attacks as well
        • Training Dummy (optional fight)
          • Location: The Gym
          • Like the original Training dummy, but with an angry face, and spikes.
          • Can spin around its head to damage you
          • Can shoot training balls to damage you.
          • Throw balls at spikes to remove all of them, then jump on head
        • Spiky Tentacle Monster
          • Location: The Pit
          • All you can see of it is 3 tentacles with spiky balls on the ends, coming from a pure white portal.
          • The room is initially lit when the battle starts
          • The player must throw the light orb at one of the tentacles to damage it.
          • When a tentacle is damaged the room becomes dark.
        • Shopgirl & Hellbeast 3
          • The Castle, Hellish Dimension
          • I am not yet certain on the specifics of this battle
        • Bossman
          • Location: The Castle
          • Bossman is sitting at his desk which now has rocket jets and is flying
          • Has one attack where he goes closer to the ground to try and burn the player with jets
          • Has attack where he throws lots of bombs the player
          • One (or more?) will not explode. The player must pick the bomb up and throw it at him when he comes closer to the ground
          • When he is hit with the bomb the desk will fall to the ground and get spikes on its side. It will start to move left and right.
          • The player must jump on the desk and then on Bossman himself
          • Bossman will then start to fly again. His attacks get more intense
          • Repeat
        • Final Boss: Signpost and Signpost Minions
          • Location: The Castle
          • Phase 1:
            • The signpost jumps around and tries to skewer the player with the spike that was originally in the ground
            • Jump on him when he misses
            • Will also spin rapidly and go after the player
          • Phase 2:
            • Will jump up and stick on the roof and many smaller signpost minions will enter the room
            • Some of the minions you jump on will drop some sort of projectile
            • Take projectile, jump on minions to gain height, and throw projectile at large signpost
          • Phase 3+
            • not sure yet
            • these phases should be more mobile than other bosses and encompass a large area
            • Eventually the large signpost will get stuck in a cloning machine causing the whole castle to explode (with the player escaping of course)
      • Story
        • Player arrives in platformertown
        • Meets Bossman and other npcs
        • Gets taught to fight by Fightguy
        • Bossman gives first chore (have not come up with what this is yet) (something signpost related)
        • Player completes chore
        • Bossman gives second chore (have not come up with what this is yet) (something signpost related)
        • Player completes chore
        • Bossman tells Player that Shopgirl has dropped her ring in the drain and the player needs to go into the sewer to get it.
        • Player enters sewer
        • Player defeats Giant crocodile
        • Player obtains ring which ends up being cheap plastic.
        • Player returns ring and gets a good night’s sleep in his bed.
        • When the player wakes up the town has been completely rearranged by bat-like creatures called randbats
        • The player climes to the top of the Workplace.
        • Player fights Big Brutish Monster
        • Town goes back to normal.
        • Player gets another chore.
        • Player goes in house which is a trap that leads to the Fiery underground
        • Player defeats Magma Monster
        • When player defeats him, he releases a noxious fume that immobilizes you. The platform he is standing on rises up towards a ceiling full of spikes. As he falls unconscious randbats rearrange the ceiling above him.
        • Player Wakes up in Helperguy’s house. Helperguy tells his story.
          • Helperguy came to Platformertown with his girlfriend before townspeople were evil
          • Suddenly noticed a change in townspeople
          • Girlfriend went missing
          • Attacked by townspeople. Got injured
          • Randbats brought him to safety
          • He and randbats have been searching for girlfriend ever since
          • Randbats have just found something...
        • Player and Helperguy go to Platformertown
        • Fightguy is there and sounds the alarm. There are now Insane townspeople in Platformerstreet
        • Player defeats Fightguy
        • OPTIONAL Player can go into gym and fight Training Dummy to access storeroom
        • Randbats reveal entrance to the Pit
        • Player goes down pit and defeats Spiky Tentacle Monster
        • Player finds real townspeople and Helperguy’s Girlfriend attached to evil cloning machine
        • Real Bossman tells player of the castle
        • Helperguy stays to help real townspeople, Player goes to castle
        • Player fights through castle
        • Player is transported to Hellish Dimension by Shopgirl
        • Player fights Shopgirl & Hellbeast 3.
        • Player Transported back to castle.
        • Player fights “Final” boss Bossman
        • Bossman is defeated and a door to another room appears out of nowhere
        • There is a solitary signpost in the room, slightly larger than the others
          • The signposts were angry that nobody would read them
          • They captured the townspeople and made evil clones of them
          • They made people come to platformertown to make them do chores that would increase sign population.
          • They would dispose of the people when they were starting to get too strong
        • Real Final Boss battle against the Signpost and his many signpost minions begin
        • Everyone lives happily ever after the end.
